ServiceTitan Pricing Setup
HVAC, Plumbing, & Electrical contractor in Minnesota
Project Timeline: April 2026
PCG uncovered the root cause of a major pricing discrepancy, helping the client build a scalable pricebook structure that delivers accurate pricing and supports future dynamic pricing initiatives.
Client Challenges
The client was transitioning from a material-based equipment pricing model to a more standard ServiceTitan structure of Service > Equipment > Material. During testing, they discovered that prices generated through the Price Setup Calculator were more than $3,000 lower than expected. Without understanding how the system calculated pricing, they risked underpricing jobs and creating inconsistencies across their Pricebook.
PCG Solutions
PCG conducted extensive testing and backend validation to identify the source of the discrepancy. We discovered that equipment attached to services is not factored into the Price Setup Calculator, creating an unexpected pricing gap. By educating the client on how ServiceTitan calculates pricing and recommending a revised structure for services and materials, we ensured all costs were properly captured and aligned their Pricebook with system functionality.
Our Approach
Deep Technical Investigation
Rather than accepting the pricing discrepancy at face value, PCG performed detailed testing to understand exactly how ServiceTitan’s pricing engine was behaving. This allowed us to identify a system limitation that was not immediately visible through standard configuration reviews.
Education Through Clarity
Once the issue was identified, we focused on helping the client understand why the pricing variance existed. By breaking down the relationship between services, equipment, materials, and the Price Setup Calculator, we transformed a confusing issue into a clear and actionable learning opportunity.
Building for Long-Term Success
Our recommendations extended beyond resolving the immediate concern. We helped the client structure their Pricebook in a way that supports accurate pricing today while creating a stronger foundation for future dynamic pricing initiatives and scalable growth.
Conclusion
This project demonstrates the value of having an experienced partner who understands not only how ServiceTitan is designed to work, but also where system behaviors can create unexpected outcomes. By combining technical expertise with practical business guidance, PCG helped the client avoid significant pricing errors and gain confidence in their pricing strategy.
The outcome was a deeper understanding of the platform and a roadmap for future success. With a properly structured Pricebook and a clear understanding of how pricing is derived, the client is now positioned to leverage dynamic pricing more effectively, maintain consistent margins, and scale their operations with confidence.
