Customers and Attachments in FieldEdge

The Customer’s Page is the main hub for all your Customers needs.

On the Customer’s Page, you can find important Notes, Jobs, Work Orders, Invoices, Agreements and History for your Customers. Each Customer will have it’s own Customer Page where you can dive into any information you want to find out about that specific Customer. However, did you know of a nifty tool that could aid your FieldEdge bookkeeping?

Introducing: Attachments.

Attachments 101

Attachments are the key to storing information inside of your Customers’ Page.

They are located on the far right of your Customer’s Page next to the Timeline on the Overview section.

Attachments can be either PNG’s, JPG’s, PDF’s, Word Doc’s, and in some cases small Mp4’s files that can be stored on to your Customer’s Page as a reference to the staff.

Not only can Attachments be references for the staff, but the Attachments can also serve as reassurance for Customers.

A great use for Attachments as reassurance could be:

  • Technician Checklists
  • Photos of Equipment
  • Small Videos from being Onsite

Once an Attachment is uploaded, you can see who edited the Attachment and at what time the Attachment was created.

If your Customer has multiple Attachments, FieldEdge allows you to search through that Customer’s Attachments with a Search bar as well. Keep in mind this will only work for the titles of the Attachments on that specific Customer, so try to be mindful while naming an Attachment.

To upload an Attachment, simply select Add Attachments and select a file you want to attach to the Customer.

There isn’t an expiration date for your Attachments. Once uploaded, an Attachment will remain there until deleted.

  • It is important to note that there currently isn’t a way to detect or report on who deleted an Attachment inside of FieldEdge. Once an Attachment is deleted, it is gone for good.
  • If you ever feel like an Attachment is no longer needed for a Customer, we highly recommend double checking with your co-workers before removing it.
    • Often, Attachments are there as reassurance. Whether that reassurance is for your Company or the Customer: You may not need it now, but you may need to use it in the future. Always air on the side of caution when it comes to deleting Attachments.

Custom Forms and Attachments

As mentioned above, the most common method of uploading Attachments is from Technicians uploading Checklists.

These Checklists are your Custom Forms inside of FieldEdge. Once a Custom Form has been filled out by your Technician, FieldEdge will then automatically upload that Custom Form onto your Customer’s Attachments! Now your Company will have a copy of what the Technician has completed without the worry of having stacks of paper.
